The Ultimate List of Wedding Venues in Downtown Lubbock

Downtown LBK • October 22, 2021

It’s no secret that Lubbock is home to some of the most beautiful, breathtaking, and memory-loving wedding backdrops in all of West Texas.

Whether you’re looking for a famous Texas skyscape to imprint into your wedding day memories or a dancefloor rich with history, you’ll find the perfect wedding venue in our very own downtown.

Baker Building

Capacity: 200 – 300 seated guests | 13,000+ square feet

Location: 1211 13th Street

Style: Simple elegance | Vintage charm

What we love about it: The Baker Building is a one-stop shop for all your wedding day to-dos. With complete full-service capabilities, intermingling with square feet upon square feet of old-world architecture (hello, tin ceilings and hardwood floors!), this might be one of the most perfect wedding locations in Lubbock.

Legacy Event Center

Capacity: Up to 250 seated guests | Varies up to 13,600 square feet

Location: 1500 14th Street

Style: Historic | Elegant

What we love about it: There’s a rich history that goes along with the Legacy Event Center. This building was the first original First Presbyterian Church in Lubbock until the congregation chose a new location in 2006, and the YWCA began restoring the architecture in 2008.

The Watson Building

Capacity: 300 seated guests

Location: 1109 13th Street

Style: Historic | Timeless

What we love about it: Who doesn’t love original 1920s decorative trim and hardwood floors, not to mention the not one but TWO balconies that overlook the main floor. Bonus points? Every package purchased with the Watson Building comes with its own concierge service.

McPherson Cellars

Capacity: Up to 200 seated guests

Location: Depot District | 1615 Texas Avenue

Style: Urban | Historic

What we love about it: The backdrop of McPherson Cellars is one reminiscent of a 1930s Coca-Cola bottling plant, because it is! With evidence of the transition from factory to winery still present throughout the location, this space “includes a lofty interior, tasting room, and outdoor patio, available to rent together or separately for a variety of events and soirées of all sorts!”

Honorable Mentions (Rehearsal Dinners)

Although the wedding day sure does play a big role in, well, the wedding, we’d venture to make a case for the laughter, stories, and festivities that occur the night before at the rehearsal dinner.

Although these elegant eateries don’t quite have the maximum capacity needed to host a large event, they sure do deserve a warm and hearty honorable mention for boasting some of the best bites we’ve ever had the pleasure of tasting.

  • The West Table
  • Whether it is hors d'oeuvres your event is after or multi-course, drool-worthy seasonal dishes, they all sit atop handmade tables reclaimed from an old, local cotton gin. The West Table breathes southern charm, hospitality, and comfort, and if that’s the vibe your rehearsal dinner is after, we’re happy to suggest you’ve found it.

  • Burklee Hill Vineyards
  • There’s a saying in West Texas that goes, “The grape never falls too far from the vine. And then it’s turned into luscious Lubbock wine.” Okay, there isn’t a saying like this (yet) but if your group is on the hunt for delicious wines to aid in toasting to the future of the honorable couple, Burklee Hill Vineyards has quite the selection to please even the pickiest of in-laws.

  • Triple J Chophouse
  • Wedding brouhahas are usually preceded by a night at Triple J Chophouse downing some of their famous brews. Since 2006, Triple J Chophouse has been in the business of making people happy and full. If you and the crew are all about craft beer and “darn good food,” then Triple J Chophouse is where you want to be.
